Abjiciamus ergo opera tenebrarum, et induamur arma lucis.
Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and put on the armour of light.
ST. PAUL, ROMANS 13:12

HAPPIER DAYS...they were, when reformists like Leo-Joseph Cardinal Suenens, Primate of Belgium, and traditionalists like Father, could still smile together, -- as in the picture at New York's international airport, -- and pray together, -- as in the picture at New York's St. Patrick's cathedral. (Other priests at the throne are Auxiliary Bishop, later Cardinal, Terrence Cooke, and Father's brother, Franciscan Father Adhemar, Director of the Archdiocese of New York's Belgian Bureau.)

Si vos amiseritis regna caelorum: qui erunt homines, per quos a vobis error auferatur,
cum vos elegerit Deus, per quos errorem auferat ceterorum?

If you yourselves would ever lose the direction to the kingdom of Heaven, who would rescue you,
you who were selected by God to protect others against error?
ST. AUGUSTINE

AMERICAN PROTECTOR. -- Regardless of any subsequent denials by the establishment, the record shows that, until his death in 1967, Francis Cardinal Spellman, Archbishop of New York and Military Vicar of the U.S. Armed Forces, was Father's and the Catholic Traditionalist Movement's staunchest backer among the American Catholic bishops. -- This 1963 photo shows Father standing behind Cardinal Spellman in front of New York's St. Patrick's Cathedral, after celebrating the traditional Latin High Mass.
